Biographical Notes

Edwin James Lindsay, who enlisted as James Lindsay, 6/4086, was the fourth son of Joseph and Mary (née Wright) Lindsay, of Otekura, South Otago. Private J. Lindsay, Glenavy, was one of the recruits for the Tenth Reinforcements who left South Canterbury in mid November 1915 for Trentham Camp. Two brothers, Frederick Brydone Lindsay and Joseph Whyte Lindsay, also served in World War I. His next-of-kin at death was his youngest sister, Mrs A. Shields, Pukeuri (Evelyn Ness Lindsay).
