Biographical Notes

William Buckingham Gardner was the son of George William and Alicia Eleanor (née King) Gardner. William was educated at Timaru Main and Waimataitai schools before transferring to Richmond School in Christchurch. He married Frances Charlotte Moss on 12 January 1904 at Timaru. They had three daughters born at various locations as William moved with his work. He returned to Timaru with Draft 187 which brought a large number of soldiers home in early October 1918.
