Biographical Notes

Charles Wyndham Gilbert Spier was the son of Henry and Elizabeth Ann (née Young) Spier. he was at home in England with his family in 1891. Charles married Mabel Harriett Barnes on 16 December 1914 at Timaru. Their son Charles Arthur was born in 1915 at Timaru. C. Spier embarked at Liverpool for the return to New Zealand per the “Tahiti”. draft no. 204, carrying 950 soldiers, reached Port Chalmers on 12 January 1919.
