Biographical Notes
Bertram Frederick Charles Richards was the oldest son of Frederick (Fred) and Agnes Kezia (née Bailey) Richards. He was educated at Kingsdown and Springbrook schools before going on to the Timaru High School. B. F. C. Richards and W. C. Richards embarked at Liverpool for the return to New Zealand per the “Tahiti”. draft no. 204, carrying 950 soldiers, reached Port Chalmers on 12 January 1919. His brother Wilfred Collet Richards also served in World War I.
