Biographical Notes

Thomas James Morrow was the son of Thomas and Jessie Shiels (née Tait) Morrow. he was educated at Sawyers Bay School, Kaikorai School and Boys' High School, Dunedin. He married Mary Silvers Black on 18 December 1916 at Timaru. Captain T. J. Morrow embarked at Liverpool for the return to New Zealand per the “Tahiti”. draft no. 204, carrying 950 soldiers, reached Port Chalmers on 12 January 1919. His brother, William John Taylor Morrow, was killed in action in 1918 in France.
