Biographical Notes

Walter Ellis was the son of William and Eliza (née Smart) Ellis. He left Timaru with the South Canterbury quota of the 16th Reinforcements on 3 May 1916. W. Ellis and twelve comrades were to be welcomed home at a social in the Fairlie Public Hall on 30 May 1919.
