Biographical Notes

Robert Combe was the son of Robert and Elizabeth (née Blair) Combe. He was at home in Scotland with his family in 1881 and 1891. He married first in 1903 to Anne Young Pearson, who died in 1914 in Scotland. Robert had been in New Zealand for 2 years when he attested in 1917, having arrived in New Zealand with his nephew (also Robert Combe) from Edinburgh. His second marriage was to Agnes Gilchrist Somerville in 1919, presumably before he returned to New Zealand. Robert Combe was drawn in the seventh ballot in 1917, when working at Morven.
