Biographical Notes

Alfred Ernest Budd was the fourth son of Alfred and Elizabeth Cornthwaite (née Reid). He was educated at Timaru Main School. His younger brother Herbert George Budd was killed in action in 1915 at Gallipoli. His brother Edward also enlisted.
