Biographical Notes
William Stewart was the eldest of the family of David and Ruth (née Tiller) Stewart. He attended Southbridge, Hornby and Prebbleton schools and possibly others. When William enlisted his nominated next-of-kin was his brother John Douglas Stewart, at the time not five years old.
