George Cowan married Ethel Wood on 5 August 1914 at Fairlie. Their son Andrew Alexander Cowan was born on 21 January 1916 at Timaru, and a secnd son, Charles Edward Cowan, was born on 21 May 1917 at Fairlie.. George Cowan was probably the son of Andrew and Florence Raymond (née Andrews) Cowan.
