Biographical Notes
Alfred Robert Manchester, known as Robert, was born on 1 March 1894 at Waimate, the older son of George Alfred and Isabella (née Dailey) Manchester. In 1915 he was invalided back to Egypt through having a bad leg, which had been scalded when he upset a can of boiling water in the trenches. [See attachment - newspaper print of letter to mother.] He marriedQueenie Alice Hopkins in 1922.
