Joseph Waller was born on 6 September 1884 at Geraldine, the eldest son of Henry and Emily (née Burnham) Waller. He was educated at the Orton School. On 6 July 1921 at st John the Evangelist Church, Winchester, Joseph married 19 year old Ruby Lilian Goodeve. Like their father who died at 98 years of age, brothers Joseph and John were long-lived. And Ruby lived to 95 years.
