Biographical Notes

William Campbell, 10/1202, was the son of William and Annie Campbell. He embarked at Wellington on 14 December 1914, bound for Egypt, where he disembarked on 29 January 1915. On 27 April 1915 he was wounded in action at the Dardanelles. On recovering he joined his unit, Wellington Infantry, again at the Dardanelles. When his medals were sent to his mother in 1921 and 1923, she had moved to Barnard Street. She acknowledged receipt of these with thanks. Likewise the plaque and scroll in 1921.
