Biographical Notes

Eric McKay CAMPBELL was the son of Hugh and Mary Janet (née BALLOCH; later AULD) CAMPBELL. He was born on 24 May 1895 at Glenomaru. At the time of enlisting he was a draper employed by the Canterbury Farmers Co-operative at Timaru. Eric gave a total of 4 years 157 days of service (1 year 208 days in new Zealand and 2 years 314 days overseas). Eric was killed instantly when a truck he was driving was struck by a train at a railway crossing on 8 October 1942 in Christchurch 1942. He left a widow and three children.
