Biographical Notes
Clarence Victor HATHAWAY was the son of William and Edith (née CRAWFORD) HATHWAY. He was born on 6 October 1894 at Timaru and baptised on 4 December following at St Mary's Anglican Church. He attended the Timaru Main School. He was likely a nephew of Arthur HATHAWAY.
On 6 September 1917 the Timaru Herlad reported "Mrs. W. Hathaway, Clyde Street, Timaru, received advice yesterday that her son, Driver C. V. Hathaway, was admitted to the 3rd General Hospital, Wandsworth, on August 21. The cause of his illness has not been diagnosed."
