Biographical Notes

Son of Joseph & Louisa Ann (nee GAY) WILLIAMS. Brother Alfred WILLIAMS also served in WWI. Brother Thomas Henry WILLIAMS served in the South African War. Death recorded in Personnel Records & in cremation record as William Ernest WILLIAMS. Service number has been changed from 2/822 to 15/522a on Personnel Record. Ernest would have been only 19 years old when he embarked for the Suez in 1914. Educated at Waimate School. Ernest & Alfred returned to NZ on Transport 203 in January 1919.
