Biographical Notes

"Lieut Cyril Blakeney, NZ (now reported killed in action on August 9th) had been, ever since leaving college, in the NZ Forces. He left NZ with his regiment about a year ago, and had had almost constant service in txhe field. He had only left hospital where he had been recovering from sunstroke, a few days before he fell. For several years he had managed Ashwick, his step-father's station in NZ. He was 26 years old, and was engaged to be married to Leila, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Cave-Orme, of Louth."
