Biographical Notes

Samuel Creed Prue was born on 6 January 1896 at Waimate, the son of Samuel and Elizabeth (née Bryan) Prattley. S. C. Prue, 24222, of Waimate, returned to New Zealand per the “Kia Ora”, embarking at Liverpool in March 1919, the draft being due at Lyttelton on 7 May 1919. He married Jessie Uneta Welch in 1923. Samuel died on 19 December 1935, aged 39 years, and was buried in Waimate Cemetery (Free ground), Jessie with him in 1949. It appears that all of his relatively short life, apart from his time abroad, was spent at Waimate.
