Biographical Notes

Thomas Shefford was born on 10 April 1894 at Waimate, the son of John and Emily (née Wild) Shefford. T. Shefford, 28923, of Waimate, returned to New Zealand per the “Arawa” (Draft No. 244), reaching Lyttelton about 12 May 1919. He married Ruth Gladys Chamberlain in November 1921 at St Augustine’s Church, Waimate. His brother James was killed in action in 1917 in France and brother William also served in World War I.
