Biographical Notes

Wilfred Borlase Vosper, born on 14 January 1892 at Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, was the son of John and Elizabeth Vosper. ,In 1901 Wilfred started at Johnsonville School, coming from Merriya School in New South Wales. In 1907 he left Johnsonville for the Techical School in Wellington. He had been at Fairlie at least form 1913 and was a station hand there when he left by the train from Fairlie on 12 August 1914 with the 8th South Canterbury Mounted Rifles men from Fairlie. His fathes then stationed at Motueka, where Wilfred settled after the war. Wilfred married Flora Gair in 1921. He died the following year and was buried in the Motueka Cemetery.
