Biographical Notes

Frederick Ellis Coe was the eldest son of William and Phoebe (née Ellis) Coe. He was educated at Timaru Main School. Frederick married Drucilla Bowkett on 12 December 1916 at Timaru. Their son, Herbert James Coe, was born on 26 September 1917 at Timaru. Frederick, a draper, was drawn in the ballot and called up in 1917. His brother Herbert Goodall Coe served in World War I.
