Biographical Notes

Richard Edwards was the second son of Richard and Jessie (née Kitto) Edwards. He married Mercy Saunders on 31 October 1906 at Timaru. Their son, Richard Mark Edwards was born on 12 November 1911 at Pleasant Point. Richard was drawn in the ballot and enlisted. Mercy died in 1934 and was buried at Pleasant Point. Richard’s brother, Claude James Edwards, served in World War I.
