Biographical Notes

Francis Phillips, known as Frank, was the oldest son of Thomas and Clara (née Hubbard) Phillips. His father died in 1907. Frank was a saddler at Waimate when he was called up, and, on 25 June 1917, he left with men from the South Canterbury military district for camp.
