Biographical Notes

Richard William Pearse was the third son of Digory Sargent and Sarah Ann (née Browne) Pearse. Digory and Sarah had married in 1871 at Timaru and had ten children born in South Canterbury. Richard was farming at Milton when he called up. Another brother, John Brown Pearse, was called up
