Biographical Notes

Jonathan Neil Rtchie was the youngest son of James and Mary Hannah (Polly, née Earnshaw) Ritchie. Embarking at Tilbury on 12 March 1919 for the return home, Jonathan reached Lyttelton, New Zealand by the “Corinthic” in April 1919, one of 1142 soldiers aboard. His oldest brother, Francis Herbert Edward Ritchie, was called up in 1917. Francis, too, is buried in the Cracroft Cemetery.
