Biographical Notes

Francis Llewellyn Barker, the only son of Francis Henry and Marion (née Cox) Barker, was baptised on 2 November 1880 at St John's Anglican Church, Winchester. Francis Llewellyn married Rita Maude Wright on 14 January 1904 at St Mary's, Timaru. Embarking at Tilbury on 12 March 1919 for his second to New Zealand, he reached Lyttelton by the “Corinthic” in April 1919, one of 1142 soldiers aboard. His oldest son, Rupert Francis Trevor Barker served in World War II.
