Biographical Notes

Hugh Hill Wilson was the eldest son of Hugh and Jane (née McLeod) Wilson, of Maheno. He was educated at Maheno and Hampden schools , going out to work at the age of 14. He married May Logan, sister of George, Stan and Rue Loagan, on 5 May 1910, at Addington. Hugh and May had two children before Hugh enlisted for service with the New Zealand Forces. James Robert Edmondson Wilson, a brother of Hugh, was killed in action in 1918 in France.
