Biographical Notes

Walter Edward Davis was the youngest son of James and Comfort Davis, of Temuka. He was educated at Temuka School. Walter married Hannah Owens on 3 June 1916 at Timaru. In 1917 he was drawn in the ballot and called up. His mother died in 1903 and his father in 1916. Walter Ashton Lee, a nephew of Walter, was killed in action in 1918. Roland James Davis, also a nephew of Walter, was killed at Tunisia in 1943.
