Biographical Notes

Charles Alfred Ellis was the youngest of the family of Thomas and Lydia (née dewson) Ellis. Thomas and Lydia came to new Zealand from England, in the early 1880s, with seven children. Two more were born at Timaru, Ernest dying in infancy. Their mother died in 1898. Charles married Amy May Leah on 30 December 1913 at Timaru.
