Biographical Notes

William White was the son of Joseph and Ellen (née Wilks) White. His father Joseph died in 1897, and a younger brother, Joseph, died in 1915. William was educated at Hook School. His brother Henry was called up in 1917. Sergeant William White was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal during the fighting on the Western Front in mid 1918.
