Biographical Notes

John Patrick Burke was the elder son of Patrick and Catherine (née Allman) Burke. He married Deborah Kelliher on 1 January 1916. Two children were born before his call up in 1917 - Margaret on 24 May 1916 at Geraldine and Monica on 5 August 1917 at Geraldine. A son, John Edmond, was born in 1919. John was next-of-kin for his brother, Edmund, who left for the front in September 1916..
