Biographical Notes

George Albert Wright was the son of James and Margaret (Maggie, née Elphick) Wright. He was baptised on 14 June 1897 at St Paul's Anglican, Thornton Heath, Surrey, along with a younger sister. George was at home with his family at Thornton Heath in 1901, and again in 1911 when, like his father, he was a gardener. Some time after, the family migrated to Australia. Trooper G. A. Wright, Waimate, was one of the recruits for the Tenth Reinforcements who left South Canterbury in mid November 1915 for Trentham Camp.
