Biographical Notes

John Willet Withell was the son of John and Sarah Box (née Perryman) Withell. He was farming with his father at otipua before the war. John married Mary Findlay Howie in 1922. J. W. Withell embarked at Liverpool for the return to New Zealand per the “Tahiti”. draft no. 204, carrying 950 soldiers, reached Port Chalmers on 12 January 1919.
