Biographical Notes

Alexander Rattray was the oldest of the four sons of John and Jane (née Gunn) Rattray. He married Marjory Smith on 21 November 1906 at Waimate. Two of his brothers also served in World War I - James McHardy Rattray and Robert Rose Gunn Rattray, and the fourth brother, David John Rattray, was called up in 1916..
