Biographical Notes

William Sutherland was the son of David St Clair Wemyss and Margaret (née Mitchell) Sutherland. He was probably educated at Waimate, where the family was living 1893. His brother John Sutherland also served in World War I, and his oldest brother David St Clair Wemyss Southerland was listed in the Reserve Rolls, he being married with children.
