Biographical Notes

Gillies Chisholm was the eighth son of William and Isabella (née Sinclair) Gillies, both of whom hailed from Scotland, and a twin of Margaret Catherine Chisholm. Gillies was called up in 1917 but he had already enlisted in 1916. In 1920 he married Mary Magowan, who predeceased him by more than twenty years.
