Biographical Notes

William Thomas Harris was the son of Henry Harry and Dianah (née Bone) Harris. William was one of nine children including his oldest brother Henry, another brother Richard, and sister Elizabeth. With some siblings, he entered Timaru South School from Ealing in September 1902, leaving at the end of 1911 for work.

William enlisted in January 1918 and was discharged in August 1919, after the war had ended. He later married Mary
