Biographical Notes

John Wren was the eldest son of Irish-born Denis John and Bridget (née Ryan) Wren. His father died in 1896, leaving Bridget with six young children. His brothers, Timothy and Valentine, also served in World War I. John married Ann Brosnahan on 5 January 1921.
