Biographical Notes

Archibald Henry Muir, who was known as Archie and enlisted as Archie, was the second son of Daniel and Ellen (née Taylor) Muir. Sergeant A. H. Muir was awarded the Military Medal in December 1918. He married Katarina (Kathleen) Te Pakake on 23 August 1922 at Timaru. Kathleen died on 27 January 1923, following the birth of their son, Archibald Charles on 6 January. Dunedin, Archibald Muir died on 6 October 1930 in the Hakataramea Valley. A shepherd, he was found dead after being thrown from his horse. A third tragedy to strike this family. His brother John was killed in action in 1917 in France, and another brother Albert enlisted for World War I. .
