Biographical Notes

Charles Frederick Saunders McIvor tesified on 27 Februaru 1919 in New South Wales, that he was born on 7 Octoboer 1881 at Waimate (Waimatie), New Zealand. He was indeed born in 1881 at Waimate, his birth registered as Charles Frederick Sanders, the son of Charles Sanders and Annie née Clachar or Clachur. Charles and Annie had five children born in New Zealand before they went to New South Wales, Australia where three more were born. Charles had already served 147 days with the Australian Imperial Force before beinf demobilized, and had previously spent 7 years with the Royal Navy.
