Biographical Notes

Thomas Desmond Elder was the son of James and Agnes (née McCallum) Elder. He was educated at Temuka School. His brother James was killed in action in 1916 in France. In October 1917 Desmond was progressing favourably in Brockenhurst Hospital, having been preciously reported as dangerously wounded in wrist and thigh.
