Biographical Notes

William Eric Wagstaff, known as Eric, was one of four sons of Thomas and Beatrice Mary Wagstaff who enlisted for World War One. The family was originally of Timaru where the boys were all born and educated. His brother Arthur served with the Australian Forces and was killed in action on 29 April 1915 at Gallipoli. Another brother Thomas Reginald (Reg) served with the Black Watch and died on 25 September 1915 in France. And brother Henry Stanley (Stanley) also served.
