Biographical Notes

Frederick Alfred Whitaker was born at Timaru or Temuka, the son of Frederick Alexander (born in Brazil) and Kate (née Cox; South Canterbury born) Whitaker. His father died in 1887. He had served five years as an apprentice. He enlisted on the outbreak of war at Broadmeadows, Victoria, Australia.He was discharged in March 1917 at Melbourne.
