Biographical Notes

Catherine Mabel MacDonald Hislop was born on 25 May 1895 at Geraldine, the daughter of Patrick Wood Hislop and his wife Margaret Mary Annie née MacDonald. Patrick, a doctor at North Tawton, Devon, and Margaret, from Geraldine, New Zealand, married in 1892 at Glen Urquhart, Inverness, Scotland. Her brother John was born in Devon before the family settled in Geraldine.
