Biographical Notes

Harold Hammond was the youngest son of George and Evangeline Ellen (Eva, née Dean) Hammond. All five sons saw war service. His eldest brother, George Richard Hammond, served in the South African War. Another brother, Leonard James Bathurst Hammond, served in both the South African War and World War One; and brothers Arthur Hammond and Francis (Frank) Hammond also served in World War One.
