Biographical Notes

Arthur Hammond was the son of George and Evangeline Ellen (Eva, née Dean) Hammond. He married Athole Louisa McColl on 23 April 1916 at Geraldine. All five sons saw war service. His eldest brother, George Richard Hammond, served in the South African War. Another brother, Leonard James Bathurst Hammond, served in both the South African War and World War One; and brothers Francis (Frank) Hammond and Harold Hammond also served in World War One.
