Biographical Notes

Rewi Rawhiti Macintosh was the younger son of Charles Nicholson, newspaper editor and at one time mayor of Timaru, and Lydia Beatrice (née Thompson) Macintosh. His secondary education was at Waitaki Boys' High School, where he made his mark academically and in sports. Rewi changed his name to Robert Reynolds MacIntosh. He married Rosa Emily May Henderson in 1925 in London.
