Biographical Notes

Dugald George MATHESON was the son of John and Agnes (nee SEAY) MATHESON, of Simons Pass Station in the Mackenzie Country. Their town house was Tignafeile House in Wai-iti Road, Timaru. Dugald was a doctor. He achieved the highest marks in New Zealand in his medical examination. He retired to "Roseneath" near Kurow in North Otago, which property included coal mines. His wife, Mary, died in 1930 in the collapse of one of those mines.
