Biographical Notes

William Arthur WALL was the eldest son of William Henry and Rebecca WALL, of Timaru. He served as Farrier Sergeant in the South African Campaign. He worked as a blacksmith for many years in Timaru. Bill was remembered at the 5 July 1915 meeting of the Timaru South School Committee. Pte B. S. Graham, of York Street, in a letter to his brother, noted that he was with Charlie Stevenson and Bill Wall when they were hit - "I can tell you that you have no idea what it is like here." In 1927, he was still remebered by his mother in a notice in the Timaru Herald.
