Biographical Notes

Husband of Amelia Annie Makeig (nee O'Connor and later became Mrs McCaul), of Epsom, Auckland. Son of Eliza and Arthur Makeig, brother of Ethel Lillian, Isabella Louise, Grace Helena, Phyllis Irene, Dorothy Aileen and twin brother George Andrews.

The Timaru Herald reported, on 28 July 1917: "Mr John O'Connor, Regent Street, received word yesterday that his son-in-law, Private Frederick Makeig, was killed in action in France on July 7th. Private Makeig enlisted in the 18th Reinforcements."
